Gem, BonTon and 35mm Tintype Workshop: March 15-17, 2023

Small is big again. With the same quantity of collodion used to make a single 8” x 10” tintype you can make dozens of wonderful images using your old 35mm SLR camera. These little tintypes are perfect as gifts or used in jewelry.  

In this three day workshop participants will learn to make these diminutive collodion images with a common 35mm camera but will also have the opportunity to make authentic “Gem” tintypes (eight on a 5x7” plate) and “BonTons” the most popular tintype of the 19th century (four on a 5x7” plate) using a vintage four lens wet plate era camera.

This is a perfect workshop for people involved in jewelry making or those who are beginners with the wet-plate collodion process who have limited darkroom space or funds for larger cameras.

Three day class, limited to four participants:
